Rameshwaram Temple Yagya and Veda Recitation Series
for Health and Enlightenment
($65 for the entire family)

July 17-26

This month we are fortunate to have a unique opportunity for yagyas in Rameshwarm where our priests will participate in a 10 Day series of powerful yagya performances which will include the recitation of the complete Rig, Sama, and Yajur Vedas.

Rameshwaram is special because after the successful conclusion of the battle between Rama and Ravana, as told in the Ramayana (summary here), Rama performed a special Shiva yagya here using a sand lingam that his wife Sita made. So this site is powerful and sacred for many reasons.

Recitation of the Vedas is special because they are the original source of mantras, and their comprehensive recitation by pundits as qualified as these isn't possible very often. Each day the pundits will recite their specific veda with a focus on the mantra sections that relate to health, success, and enlightenment.

Please participate in this unique and powerful yagya series.

The Vedas are the original source of the knowledge of yagyas, mantras and how to use them to support and protect all areas of life. Our January yagya program will feature the recitation of the complete Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas so that we gain the benefit of every yagya and every mantra contained within.

Rig Veda is the oldest of the Vedas and contains over 10,000 powerful verses and dates back to 1,500 BCE. Yajur Veda dates back to about 1,000 BCE and consists of the procedures and details for most yagyas including two versions of the Soma Yagya, the Agni Hotra, Ashvamedha Yagya, the Sarva Medha Yagya, and special yagyas for our ancestors.

Sama Veda is the Veda of devotion. It consists primarily of Rig Veda verses recited in a special melody and rhythm in order to facilitiate the expansion of the heart and enliven the presence of the divine within.

Yajur Veda contains Rudram and Chamakam - the special hymns for Shiva, as well as the famous and powerful Mrytunjaya and Gayatri Mantras. There are many yagya rituals detailed in this Veda.

The effects of this yagya are profound and continually increase our ability to realize our goals and aspirations; both spiritual and material. The series has naturally positive influence on our family and previous generations (Pitr Yagya) and our spiritual growth (Soma Yagya), health (Rudram and Mrytunjaya Yagya) and overall success in life (Ashvamedha Yagya).

The yagya will be performed over a 10 day period with vedic recitations in both the morning and evening. The combination of all three yagyas is quite rare because it is so difficult to assemble the highly qualified priests need for this procedure.

These spiritual texts have been carefully maintained with precision and accuracy by the lineage of Brahmin priests in India. This yagya not only benefits us directly, but is also a way to preserve and protect this profound and invaluable knowledge.
