1008 fried Modaka sweets are a favorite of Ganesha on the first day of the yagyas.

Offering milk over the crystal Meru.

Gold flowers are offered to the Meru; a 3-D Sri Chakra.

The yagya series concluded with a Durga Abishekam in a local temple.  Here milk is offered.

Then fragrant scented sandalwood.

After the yagya, Durga is decorated in a new silk sari with beautiful flower malas and a silver crown.

One of the traditional parts of Navaratri is to honor women of all ages with a gift of a sari, comb, makeup and some fruit.
