Yagya Schedule for July, 2005

Please see note at the bottom of the page regarding the free Venus/Divine Mother Yagya on Fri. July 22.

Guru Poornima Yagya
Thursday Morning, July 21 ($51)

The yagya honors the Vedic ideal of the teacher as one who brings awareness of the divine to us.  In the vedic tradition, a good guru was (is) considered to be the highest form of divine blessing because the guru was the conduit through which the ultimate knowledge of life could flow.

Interestingly, by tradition, the "guru" is also seen as a force of life that gives a positive direction to our personal growth and development.  Every life experience can be a "guru" in that we can learn from everything we do.

This yagya enhances the strength of this aspect of our life.  It supports our quest for spiritual meaning and understanding and honors those who have helped us on our path.  By so doing, we enhance our ability to attract knowledge and spiritual advancement into our life.

This yagya will take place on the morning of Guru Poornima and will consist of Guru, Vyasa, Dakshinamurti, Trotaka and Shankara Pujas followed by a full Rudra Abishekam and Mrytunjaya Homam from about 8:00 AM through 2:00 PM.

For removal of Obstacles and the Creation of Abundance and Prosperity

On the first day, the focus is on Ganesha who removes all obstacles to the full enjoyment of life.  The priests will perform a full Ganesha Yagya as well as yagyas for the nine planets and the major deities.

On the second day of the yagya, our  priests will perform a full routine of Vedic pujas and homams (fire yagya) for Lakshmi to enhance our enjoyment of abundance and both inner and outer wealth.

In addition the full navagraha yagya is repeated to bring balance and harmony to all the planets to smooth their manifestation in our lives as seen throughthe jyotish chart.

Combined, these two yagya dayss create a continuing influence that encourages the resolution of problems, removes obstacles, and adds wealth and fulfillment in all its various forms; material and spiritual..

This is the two day monthly yagya for those who subscribe to the series on an on-going basis.

One Day Dakshinamurti - The Divine Teacher
Temple Yagya
  ($51)
Guru Poornima, Thursday evening, July 21

We continue our series of yagyas in the ancient temples surrounding Kanchipuram.  This month we are performing our yagya at a special Dakshminmurti temple (as seen on the index page of this site) dedicated to the form of the divine teacher who brings knowledge, good luck and enlightenment.

The yagya honors the Vedic Tradition of teachers (gurus) and enhances our ability to attract knowledge and spiritual advancement into our life.

Stricktly speaking, a guru may not need to take a human form, and indeed many people find that this yagya helps to make their life experience more profound and that a deeper level of spiritual meaning presents itself to them.
