This month's yagya series is focused on the nine planets (Navagraha).  All six of our priests will travel to the traditional Navagraha temples in Tamil Nadu's Kumbakonam region to perform extensive planetary yagyas and specifically yagyas at all nine of the ancient temples for the vedic planets.

The series begins with a day long yagya in Kanchipuram on Sunday, Jan. 8th which will be followed by two days of full scale yagyas (10+ priests) in Kumbakonam as we have for the past several years.  The days begin with pujas, mantra japa, and homam (fire yagya).  In the evenings the temple planetary deity will receive a complete abishekam with all tranditional ingredients. 

As a remedial method, planetary yagyas have the advantage of providing balance; the effects of the beneficial planets are strengthened and the malific planets are moderated. This is particularly important during 2007 when the position of Saturn with Ketu in Simha (Leo) will be especially challenging.

The yagya enhances peace and harmony between husband, wife, children and other family members of all generations.  It develops and protects smoothness in our external circumstances and enhances enjoyment and our ability to live in balance and harmony.  It is a gentle yagya that combines the protection of Vishnu with the fullness and abundance of Lakshmi.

As with all Vedic technologies, repetition is key to the development of strength and effectiveness.  The repetition of this yagya on a monthly basis develops a greater depth of experience resulting in increased individual power and longer lasting results from the yagya.

It is important to start the year by paying some attention to the power of the Navagraha to shape our experiences during the upcoming year.  This three day yagya consists of the beginning three days of the seven day navagraha yagya as detailed above.  It is offered as a smaller scale option to the week-long yagya described above. 

Everyone goes through difficult times and these yagyas facilitate the resolution of difficult karmas and remove obstacles to our general success in life.  They are supportive and life affirming yagyas that remove the sometimes overwhelming weight of difficult circumstances.   Since difficult times develop slowly, it must be expected that they will dissipate gradually, so best results are obtained through repeated participation over time.

This yagya covers all nine planets in one five hour day of yagyas.  If you would like more focus on a particular planet(s), then we recommend the Personal or Private Yagyas which will give you several hours of focused pujas, mantra japa, and a fire yagya at modest cost.

Mrytunjaya and Rudra Abishekam Yagya ($37)
Monday, January 8th (India) and Tuesday, January 23rd (California)

Mrytunjaya yagya offers participants assistance with a wide variety of problems; overall peace of mind, spiritual progress, and health or transitions.  The yagya combines Ayush Yagya for long life with the Mrytunjaya Yagya for removal of fear.  Mrytunjaya yagyas are also good for providing spiritual based support for health problems.  This yagya is for Shiva, who wears the Moon in his hair and so, as the ultimate ruler of the planets, it is also good for balancing the effects of all planets particularly the Moon and Saturn (Sade Sati).

This yagya is repeated twice monthly; once in India and once in the US.  Participants are automatically enrolled in both yagyas.

Subramanyam Yagya ($37)
Tuesday, January 9th

Subramanyam is Ganesha's brother and the younger son of Shiva.  He is regarded as the "Divine General" and embodies the energy of Mars which when properly channeled gives rise to positive action, enthusiastic energy, optimism, and success. 

This yagya is particularly useful when times are difficult and you need a physical and mental energy boost to meet life's challenges.  It is also good for those who have kuja dosa (Mars affliction) in their astrological charts as it will help to balance and harmonize interpersonal relationships.

Sudarshana and Narasimha Yagya ($37)
Wednesday, January 10th

Sudarshana is Vishnu's weapon (a disc of light) and this yagya is used to remove severe or stubborn obstacles.  It is particularly effective for those who are faced with conflicts, lawsuits, and specific or severe forms of opposition or troubles. 

Narasimha is the incarnation of Vishnu who also helps to remove obstacles, and specifically protects and enhances family harmony. The Sudarshana and Narasimha yagyas are always performed together with a Lakshmi yagya.  So it is a very effective "all purpose" yagya for removal of obstacles and promoting harmony in our life experience.

Dakshinamurti (Shiva as Guru) Yagya ($37)
Thursday, January 11th

Dakshinamurti is a special form of Shiva in the role of teacher, or revealer of inner truth.  It is an excellent yagya for those wanting to enhance and deepen their inner experiences through meditation, mantra japa or other spiritual practices.  The yagya removes obstacles on the path to enlightenment and enhances the natural development of jnana (true knowledge).  It is particularly effective when combined with the Mrytunjaya yagya series.

From an astrological perspective, this yagya will enhance and balance the effects of Jupiter (Guru) in an individual's life. 

Goddess Yagya - Durga, Saraswati, and Lakshmi ($37)
Friday, January 5th and 12th

The three goddesses (Durga, Saraswati, Lakshmi) promote happiness, peaceful life and abundance in all forms, as well as the development of insight, wisdom and enlightenment.  This yagya promotes their assistance in helping us fulfill our desires and finding the inner peace and contentment that makes living enjoyable. Durga, the Divine Mother, enhances purity and individual strength. Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom and spiritual insight.  Lakshmi is the goddess of abundance in all forms, material and spiritual. 

Ganesha Yagya ($37)
Saturday, January 6th and 13th

Ganesha is Vigneshwara; the lord of obstacles.  He removes the obstacles which hinder our progress towards spiritual and material success.  A Ganesha yagya is light and enjoyable and result in an increasing sense of support and protection.  The obstacles that Ganesha removes are not only material.  the Vedic tradition considers Ganesha to be equally adept at removing the obstacles to our spiritual progress.  Generally, long-term participants report that while problems in life don't completely disappear, effective and appropriate solutions arise more readily and are implemented with little resistance.

This yagya is often combined with the Lakshmi and Navagraha yagyas (see above) because the combination of Ganesha and Lakshmi helps develop a balance between material and spiritual success which is supplemented by the Navagraha yagya.

Personal Yagya (3 hours/1 priest) ($75)

A personal yagya is similar to a private yagya, the difference being that it is performed by one priest rather than five.  This form of yagya is intended to assist individuals who wish to address a specific area of concern either through several consecutive days of yagya or a single day repeated over a number of months. These yagyas can be very powerful because of the focused and dedicated nature of the event.

On your yagya day, your personal priest begins with a series of pujas (Ganesha, Kalasha, and Navagraha) followed by a puja for your choice of planet or deity.  This is followed by a full length fire yagya (homam) that repeats the sequence of pujas.

Private Yagya (5 hours/5 priests) ($300)

A private yagya consists of a full day's dedicated effort on your behalf.  Five of our most experienced priests will perform 5 hours of pujas and mantra japa followed by a full 1 to 2 hour fire yagya (homam).

The focus of a private yagya can be particularly instrumental in lightening a difficult trend in life, solving a specific problem, removing a troublesome obstacle, or of dramatically deepening one's spiritual practices and experience of divinity.  A free jyotish consultation is available to assist you in the selection of the most appropriate and beneficial yagyas. On the day of your yagya, the priests begin by performing a series of pujas followed by 1008 japa repetitions of the mantra most appropriate for providing assistance from a spiritual perspective.  This is followed by the the full 1 to 2 hour fire yagya (homam) featuring an additional 1008 mantra repetitions with the traditional offerings of ghee, herbs, special woods, grains, fruits and nuts into the yagya fire.

Those who comit to the purchase of a private yagya for at least six months are included in the full yagya schedule during each month.  In addition to the 1 day private yagya, you are included as full sponsors for the 10 day yagya series at no additional charge.  The private yagya can change on a month to month basis.  The only requirement is the minimum six month term.
