---|---|---|---|
On Shivaratri, we begin the day with 11 repetitions of Rudra Abishekam followed by Rudra Havan. In the evening we travel to a countryside temple where our priests will perform Rudra Abishekam and we will do Annadanum (gift of food) for the entire village of several hundred people. All night on Shivaratri we will travel to the various temples throughout Kanchipuram to perform pujas on behalf of our sponsors, ending as the sun comes up. In Varanasi, on Shivaratri night we have a group of 50 pundits performing the traditional rituals all night long. The next day a special Ganga Yagya will be performed on the banks of the Ganges. The day after Shivaratri, our newest group of priests will perform a Shiva Yagya in a 1000 year old temple at the base of the Arunachala Mountain, a famous place long associated with Shiva. |

The day after Shivaratri There are few places in South India more associated with Shiva than the Arunachala mountain in Tiruvanamalai. The day after Shivaratri we will have a full scale 5 priest yagya in the Arunagirinatha temple at the base of the mountain.
