Lakshmi is more than money; she is abundance in all forms, family, wealth, happiness and enlightenment. The Rig Veda contains the asupicious and revered Sri Suktam; the primary long form mantra for Lakshmi. This month our pundits will begin with 2 hours of Yajur Veda recitation, and then repeat Sri Suktam 1008 times over the course of the 10 day yagya, culminating in 3 days of temple abishekam yagyas in Kanchipuram.

The Navagraha (9 planets) deliver our karmas, but they also are a means of balancing and alleviating those karmas. This month, for the first time, we are including a Navagraha intensive 22 day yagya. Each day our priests will focus on the planet of that day (Moon=Monday, Mars=Tuesday, etc) with 1008 repetitions of the vedic mantra for that planet. After 22 days they will perform a large fire yagya to complete the process.

With Jupiter retrograde, and troublesome Mars and Saturn together for the next few months, this yagya series will provide some needed peacefulness and smoothness.

During the 10 day yagya we begin the day with two hours of Vedic recitation. Ganesha puja is performed, followed by Navagraha puja and 1008 mantra japa for the 9 planets, and the deity of the day. Shiva/Rudra is honored with an extensive abishekam (ritual bathing). Then we continue with 108 repetitions of Sri Suktam, the mantra for Lakshmi.  The day concludes with the perfomance of homam (the vedic fire ritual) for Ganesha, Navagraha, Shiva, and Lakshmi.

During the remaining 12 days the focus is on the Navagraha and the mantra japa program for them.  The day begins with a complete Ganesha and Navagraha puja, followed by 1008 repetitions of the vedic mantra.  On the final day, the pujas are more elaborate and are followed by an extensive Navagraha homam, conducted by 5 pundits.
