In traditional vedic stories, Dhanvantri is the form of the divine who emerges from the churning of the ocean of milk, holding the nectar of immortality. He represents the healing and protective qualities of Vishnu as a physician; the divine protector of health. This yagya is performed to assure radiantly good health, to improve poor health, and to bring strength and vitailty to life.

Of course Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and abundance, always accompanies Vishnu, and she emerged from the ocean of milk just before Dhanvantri, so we include her in these yagya as well. As the old saying goes, "health is wealth".

Of course the nine planets also play a role in health because they are the mechanism through which karmas can be alleviated. Navagraha yagyas provide a deep rooted foundation for the improvement of health.

June is a particularly appropriate time because Jupiter is back at full strength again, shining his protective and calming light onto Saturn. Mars is no longer debilitated in Cancer. For 10 days, these yagyas will accumulate strength and empower the planets to manifest their most beneficial energies.

The yagya series will consist of 2 hours of daily Yajur Veda recitation, followed by 5 hours of pujas and homam (fire yagya) for each of the 10 days including the final 3 days of temple yagyas for both Vishnu, Lakshmi, and the Navagraha.
