July Yagya Series; Ten Days of Shiva/Saraswati Yagyas Guru Poornima is the special time of year when the universal principle of the "guru" is closest - whether it finds expression in the form of an individual teacher, or as our own thirst for knowledge and liberation. This month our yagyas will focus on Shiva in the form of Dakshinamurti; the first teacher who passes along knowledge and gives enlightenment, Saraswati who is the embodiment of wisdom and Veda Vyasa, the rishi who organized the Vedas; the source of knowledge. In Kanchipuram we begin the day with two hours of Vedic recitation followed by our usual routine of pujas for Ganesha, Navagraha, Lakshmi, and lastly Shiva is honored with an extensive abishekam (ritual bathing), as is goddess Saraswati and the rishi Veda Vyasa. The day concludes with the perfomance of Rudra homam; the timeless vedic fire ritual. In Rameshwaram, during each of the 10 days, another group of our priests will be chanting the entire text of the three major Vedas; Rig, Yajur, and Sama. Their efforts will conclude on the 24th with a big yagya to conclude the Guru Poornima series. There are 3 ways to participate; all 10 Days of Guru Yagyas ($51 for the entire family), just the Guru Poornima puja ($11) or all 10 days plus the Pavamana Soma yagya and 30 days of daily yagyas ($108). Your choice!

Pavamana Soma Yagya The yagya comes from the Rig Veda, the longest and most ancient of the Vedas. We have asssembled a uniquely qualified team of Rig Veda pundits who will be performing this yagya for us every month. During the yagya the pundits begin with two hours of Rig Veda recitations. Then they will perform our usual schedule of pujas and yagyas; Ganesha, Navagraha, Lakshmi/Durga/Parvati, Mrytunjaya and Rudra Abishekam. Following that, the traditional Rig Veda Pancha Sukta Pavamana ritual will be performed with the mantras and offerings specific to this sacred ritual. This yagya is offered as a part of our monthly 10 day of Group Yagyas. We will conclude the series in December with a full 10 days of Pavamana Soma Yagyas. Traditionally, this yagya series is performed in order to remove any bad karmas created during this lifetime, and to support the development of our nervous system so that it support enlightened consciousness and divine awareness. It is also strongly protective of families and the health and well being of family members.
