Ten Day Hanuman Yagya (includes Akshaya Tritiya Yagya at no extra charge) |

Hanuman is one of the great heros of the Ramayana; the divine monkey, son of the wind, who helps Rama rescue his wife Sita, defeat the demon Ravana and his army, and destroys Lanka. We are fortunate to be able to perform this yagya in a beautiful Kanchipuram temple where the Hanuman is almost 20 feet tall! You can see photos of the 2010 Hanuman yagya here. For our special yagyas, we have arranged for 40 foot long flower malas, 150 litres of milk for abishekam, and a special mala made of lentil crackers that are a favorite of Hanuman's. The mantras used in this yagya enliven the qualities associated with Hanuman; strength of character, support of dharma (natural law), radiant health, devotion, and contentment. Hanuaman yagyas are particularly good for softening and balancing the influence of Rahu and Saturn, and for strengthening the planet Jupiter. This is particularly timely because in May Jupiter is changing signs and Saturn continues to back up into Virgo (May 17) and resumes direct motion on June 25th. According to the vedic tradition, the best time to influence the planets is just before they change signs, so this is the perfect month for Hanuman yagyas to soften the influence of these important planets. Akshaya Tritiya Yagya (Included in the Hanuman Yagya)

|
Akshaya Trittiya is usually referred to as a Day of Lasting Achievement because on this day both the Sun and Moon are exalted and thus at their strongest. Traditionally any endeavour that is begun on these days is blessed with lasting success. As a result, we feel that the best yagyas for this day are Lakshmi (wealth), Ganesha (remove obstacles), and Navagra for the Sun. Traditionally Akshaya Tritiya is considered to be the day when the vedic rishis performed the very first yagya, so that is obviously going to be very important for us! The day is called ‘Akshaya’ because the word means ‘undecaying’ or ‘everlasting’ and any yagyas performed on this day have a special lasting power. Akshaya Trittiya is also celebrated as the birthday of Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu who was active during the Treta Yuga. He was a warrior and is often shown with an axe (Parashu) that he received from Shiva. Also, according to Vedic mythology, this is the day that the Ganges River descended to the earth from heaven, streaming through Shiva's hair. This yagya invokes the power of the Sun and Moon, Vishnu, and Shiva. They can be particularly effective in supporting our efforts towards increasing wealth, removal of resistance in life, gaining knowledge, increasing marital harmony, promoting good fortune and success in business and career. The day is also considered to be a particularly auspicious time to buy any long term assets like gold and silver, gems, or real estate because the influence and strength of the day means they will stay with you.
