Eclipses are a special time for spiritual practices, particularly as they relate to the nine planets, and it is said that the effects of mantras repeated during an eclipse are multiplied many times. Some texts say each repetition during an eclipse is equal to one thousand any other time, and other texts say ten thousand.

Regardless of which it is, this is a very valuable time for mantra practice and we are going to take maximum advantage of it with a group of 15 uniquely qualified vedic priests.

We are going to take maximum advantage the Solar eclipses. On both eclipse days, our priests will be performing a series of mantra japa repetitions; 108,000 for each of the major deities, Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Durga, and the Navagraha (nine planets).

Navagraha Temple Yagya
Seven days of temple yagyas for the nine planets

This yagya deepens and enhances our connection with each of the nine planets to promote balance and success in the coming year, leading to abundance and success in life regardless of our external circumstances.

Navagraha Temple Yagya Series, January 16 - January 22nd ($45)

We begin 2010 with a weeklong series of Navagraha (nine planet) temple yagyas to provide a long lasting and positive influence of balance and smoothness to our lives throughout the coming year.

These yagyas will be held over a seven day period in the Kumbakonam region, an area in south Tamil Nadu famous for its ancient planetary temples. Each day will take place at a different temple and will feature an abishekam yagya followed by a large fire yagya; Moon temple on Monday, Mars temple on Tuesday, etc.

Navagraha yagyas are especially important because they smooth out the effects of difficult planets like Rahu/Ketu, Saturn, and Mars which are particularly strong right now. The yagyas also maximize the positive influence of the benefic planets like Jupiter and Venus.
