Navagraha Temple Yagyas This yagya deepens and enhances our connection with each of the nine planets to promote balance and success in the coming year, leading to abundance and peace in life regardless of our external circumstances. |

| In April, the Sun moves into Aries - the first sign of the zodiac making this a new year astrologically. We celebrate this month with a series of yagyas in the ancient and beautiful temples of Kanchipuram.
Each day our yagya will take place at a different temple appropriate to the day of the week, and will consist of an abishekam yagya in which liquid offerings (milk, sandalwood, oil, etc) are offered to the temple deity/planet. We will perform yagyas in a Moon temple on Monday, Mars temple on Tuesday, Mercury on Wednesday, Jupiter on Thursday, Venus on Friday, Saturn on Saturday, the Sun on Sunday, Rahu on Monday and Ketu on Tuesday. The yagya series concludes with a large fire yagya on the 10th day. Navagraha yagyas are especially important because Saturn and Rahu are together for the entire year, and through mid-2014. Jupiter changes signs and will provide some protection beginning in June. Navagraha yagyas soften the impact of difficult planets like Saturn and Rahu, and enhance the beneficial effects of positive planets like Jupiter and Venus. |

We are all familiar with the Navaratri that takes place in the fall and this is the first time that we will be celebrating the spring time Navaratri. For each of the nine days, our pundits will recite the entire 700 verse text of the Chandi Path mantra. On the last day, they will perform the elaborate Chandi Path fire yagya with 11 pundits. This is a noteworthy event because we will complete the first Sahasra Chandi yagya (1000 repetitions of Chandi Path); a major accomplishment. Of course we begin another Sahasra Chandi right away with completion in time for next year's spring Navaratri. For this yagyas and throughout the upcoming year we will add special Lakshmi mantras to enhance the effects of the Sahasra Chandi, making it lighter and more powerful in the attraction of wealth and abundance. This nine day yagya is fantastic as a one time event because there is tremendous benefit to be gained from it, or it is a milestone for those who participate monthly.
