These recordings were made during the 2 day yagya that took place on Jan. 23&24 in Madras, India. They are (as usual) recorded over the phone and so retain their "authentic" quality. They are not as clear or polished as a studio recording...but they are from <your> yagyas and have a wonderfully authentic feel that a studio recording would lack.
The first day of the yagya included yagyas for Ganesha, the 9 planets, Shiva, and a long section of the Mrytunjaya mantra which enhances peacefulness, health and spiritual liberation. This beautiful mantra is presented here in its long form (not usually heard), in a 6 minute continuous recitation, and finally the Mrytunjaya Ashir Vadam (Vedic Blessing).
The second day of the yagya focused on those qualities of life associated with Lakshmi (abundance), Saraswati (wisdom), and Durga (strength). The essence of the Vedic hymns to these goddesses is contained in short compositions called Suktams. Each suktam is presented individually and finally in a uninterrupted full recitation of all 3 as they were performed 108 times during the actually yagya. |
