Lakshmi is the divine form of abundance in all its many manifestations; learning, family, wealth, food, courage, success.  To simplify things, she is often times honored in eight different forms.  This month, the Lakshmi yagya will begin with a four day series of intensive yagyas (4-5 hours daily) with special mantras for each of the eight forms of Lakshmi.  This series is supplemented with an eight part evening yagya in which the 1008 names of Lakshmi are repeatedly chanted along with puja offerings for a total of 108,000 repetitions.  The month concludes with a large scale Lakshmi Temple Yagya and Abishekam at a wonderful temple in Kanchipuram.

Lakshmi Temple Yagya
Monday, August 14th

Our Lakshmi yagya series concludes with a grand temple yagya.  We began the month with 4 full day yagyas and continued with eight days with 108,000 repetitions of Lakshmi mantras concluding on the day before the temple yagya.   On this, the last day of this month's series, we are going to perform a full scale abishekam at a wonderful Lakshmi temple in Kanchipuram.  This is the traditional sequence of events; first the series of pujas, homams, and mantra recitations ending with the temple event to "deliver" it all to the deity.

The abishekam consists of a two to three hour series of pujas and traditional recitations accompanied by the ritual washing of the deity by pouring a series of ingredients over the temple murti.  The priests start with water followed by milk, yogurt, sandalpaste, tumeric, rosewater, saffron, and other ingredients.

After the liquid ingredients, the Lakshmi murti is dried and dressed in a new silk sari, with elaborate fresh flower malas.  Then the priests perform a series of pujas to fully energize the murti.  The temple feels refreshed and renewed for all to enjoy.

Mrytunjaya and Rudram Abishekam Yagya

This yagya offers assistance in dealing with a wide variety of problems.  It is good for overall peace of mind and enhances the spiritual progress of those who are focused on spiritual pursuits.  It is also very good for those who may have health problems because it combines Ayush Yagya for long life with the Mrytunjaya Yagya for removal of fear.  Traditionally Mrytunjaya Yagya is suggested for those who are completing their lifetimes as it remove the fear of their transition from this world, although it is of benefit to anyone because of the peacefulness it generates.

Subramanyam Yagya
Tuesday, August 8th

Subramanyam is Ganesha's brother and a son of Shiva.  He is regarded as the "Divine General" and embodies the energy of Mars which when properly channeled gives rise to positive action, enthusiastic energy, optimism, and success. 

This yagya is particularly useful when times are difficult and you need a boost to get through challenges.  It is also good for those who have kuja dosa (Mars affliction) in their astrological charts as it will help to balance and harmonize interpersonal relationships.

Wednesday, August 9th (Full Moon)

The yagya enhances peace and harmony between husband, wife, children and other family members.  It develops and protects smoothness in our external circumstances and enhances our enjoyment and ability to live in balance and harmony.  It is a gentle yagya that combines the protection of Vishnu with the fullness of Lakshmi.

As with all Vedic technologies, repetition is key to the development of strength and effectiveness.  The repetition of this yagya on a monthly basis develops depth of experience resulting in greater power and longer lasting results from the yagya.

The 9 planets deliver our karmas to us, and we can greatly smooth our life experience through a planetary yagya.  Everyone goes through difficult times and these yagyas facilitate the resolution of difficult karmas and remove obstacles to our general success in life.  They are supportive and life affirming yagya that remove the sometimes overwhelming weight of difficult circumstances.

Goddess Yagya - Durga, Saraswati, and Lakshmi

The goddesses promote happiness, peaceful life, abundance in all forms, as well as the development of insight and wisdom, and enlightenment.  This yagyas asks for their assistance in helping us fulfill our desires and to find the inner peace and contentment that makes living enjoyable. Durga, the Divine Mother, enhances purity and individual strength. Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom and spiritual insight.  Lakshmi is the goddess of abundance in all forms, material and spiritual. 

Ganesha Yagya
Saturday, August 5th

Ganesha is Vigneshwara; the lord of obstacles.  He removes the obstacles which hinder our progress towards spiritual and material success.  A Ganesha yagya is light and enjoyable and the results are an increasing sense of support and protection.  The obstacles that Ganesha removes are not only material.  By tradition, Ganesha is equally adept at removing the obstacles to our spiritual progress and can deliver powerful spiritual insight.

This yagya is frequently combined with the Lakshmi yagya (see above) because the combination of Ganesha and Lakshmi brings a greater balance between material and spiritual success.

Sudarshana and Narasimha Yagya
Sunday, August 13th

Sudarshana is Vishnu's weapon (a discus of light) and this yagya is used to remove severe  or stubborn obstacles.  It is particularly effective for those who are faced with conflicts, lawsuits, and specific or severe forms of opposition or trouble.

Narasimha is the incarnation of Vishnu who also helps to remove obstacles, and specifically protects and enhances family harmony.

Personal Yagya (3 hours/1 priest) $75

A personal yagya can be a very effective way of relieving a difficult trend in life, of enhancing a good trend, or of deepening one's spiritual practices and experience of divinity.

On your yagya day, your personal priest wil perform a series of pujas and fire yagyas (homam) according to your choice.  The pujas begin with Ganesha and Navagraha, followed by your specific pujas.  Then the sequence is repeated for the homam.  The yagya brings balance and strength in specific areas of life.

Private Yagya (5 hours/5 priests) $300

A private yagya consists of a full day's dedicated effort on your behalf.  Five of our most experienced priests will perform 5 hours of pujas and mantra japa on your behalf, consisting of pujas and mantra japa followed by a full 1-2 hour fire yagya (homam).

The focus of a private yagya can be particularly instrumental in lightening a difficult trend in life, solving a specific problem, removing a troublesome obstacle, or of dramatically deepening one's spiritual practices and experience of divinity.  A free jyotish consultation is available to assist you in the selection of the most appropriate and beneficial yagyas. On the day of your yagya, the priests will perform a full puja and 1008 mantra japa repetitions of the appropriate mantra to provide assistance from a spiritual foundation.  This is followed by the the full 1-2 hour fire yagya (homam) featuring an additional 1008 mantra repetitions with the traditional offeringsof ghee, herbs, special wood, grains, fruits and nuts into the yagya fire.

Those who purchase a private yagya are also included in the full yagya schedule during that month.  So in addition to the 1 day private yagya, you are included as full sponsors for the 10 day yagya series at no additional charge.
