Skanda Shasti- a 10 day yagya for Subramanyam - October 22 - 29 This yagya series honors Subramanyam (also known as Skanda or Murugan), son of Shiva, the celestial general, and who personifies the energy of the planet Mars. October is a particularly appropriate time for this yagya because of the traditional Skanda Shasti festival for Subramanyam, and the planet Mars will be in the sign Cancer through late May...an unusually long time during which his energy will be stronger than usual. This yagya will bring some smoothness to the Mars energy which can otherwise be quite volatile. Special Rahu/Ketu Yagya ($25)
October 27th - Kanchipuram

Rahu and Ketu are changing signs, moving to Saggatarius (Rahu) and Gemini (Ketu) on Tuesday, October 27th. This event is traditionally celebrated as Rahu/Ketu Peyarchi and it marks a special time during which the effects of these two (usually) troublesome planets can be influenced in a positive manner. Our priests will be performing a special abishekam at the famous Kachapeswara temple where the Rahu/Ketu temple is located under an ancient neem tree as seen above. When their influence is positive, these planets can bring great success through, creativity, determination, and penetrating insight. They are also well known for their ability to stir things up and force change and transformation. This yagya helps to soften their impact so that their capacity for good is maximized.

Special Temple Yagyas in Kanchipuram ($25)

As a part of the Navaratri program, we visit Kanchipuram's amazing temples every evening from Sept. 16-29. This is an opportunity to have a special puja performed for whatever purpose you desire. Each puja will include an offering basket of fruit, lotus flowers or a jasmine mala, and a coconut. The puja itself will include the traditional ashtotra (108 names) recitation. We'll collect prasadam which will be mailed to you afterwards.

Your puja can be for a specific deity (Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi, etc) or a planet that needs some shanti (Sun, Saturn, etc). If you have a specific problem area that you want strengthened, just let us know and the local priests and pundits will recommend a specific temple. there are so many temples in Kanchipuram that there is certain to be one that meets your needs nicely.

Every month we take 3 days to perform yagyas in some of the wonderful ancient temples in Kanchipuram. In some cases the vedic mantras have been repeated there for over a thousand years, which gives the yagyas considerably added depth and power. One day is devoted to Shiva and the performance of Rudra Abishekam and Mrytunjaya Mantra. This yagya brings peacefulness, strength, and good health. One day is devoted to the goddesses; Lakshmi, the sourse of abundance in both material and spiritual forms, Durga, the source of purity and power, and Saraswati, the source of insight and wisdom. One day is devoted to the nine planets; the Navagraha. This yagya brings overall balance and smoothness to life, particularly during a difficult planetary transit or dasa. Mrytunjaya, Ayush, and Rudra Abishekam Yagya ($37) for peacefulness, long life, and good health Monday, October 26th
Mrytunjaya yagyas offer participants assistance with a wide variety of problems; overall peace of mind, spiritual progress, and health or end of life transitions. The Ayush yagya is for the full span of life and the Mrytunjaya yagya is for the removal of all kinds of fear. Additionally, Mrytunjaya yagyas are also effective for providing spiritually based support for health problems. The Rudra Abishekam yagya is for Shiva who wears the Moon in his hair and so, as Shiva is the ultimate ruler of the planets, Mrytunjaya is good for balancing the effects of all Navagraha particularly the Moon and Saturn (especially during Sade Sati). Subramanyam embodies the energy of Mars which when properly channeled gives rise to positive action, enthusiastic energy, optimism, and success. This yagya is particularly useful when times are difficult and you need a physical and mental energy boost to meet life's challenges. It is also good for those who have kuja dosa (Mars affliction) in their astrological charts as it will help to balance and harmonize interpersonal relationships. Subramanyam yagyas are traditionally performed in India by women who desire a husband or male child. Although not as widely known as some deities outside India, Subramanyam is the brother of Ganesha and the younger son of Shiva. In the Vedic Tradition he is regarded to be the "Divine General" because of his courage and leadership abilities.

Sudarshana is Vishnu's weapon; a disc of light that cuts through anything. So the Sudarshana yagya is used to remove severe or stubborn obstacles. It is particularly effective for enhancing the strength and power of those who are faced with conflicts, lawsuits, and specific or severe forms of opposition or troubles. Narasimha is a form of Vishnu, the protector and this yagya specifically protects and enhances family harmony and relationships with others. These two yagyas are always performed together and are traditionally supplemented with the addition of a Lakshmi yagya. These are very effective "all purpose" yagyas for removal of obstacles, the promotion of harmony and the growth of a sense of abundance in our life experience. Navagraha yagyas facilitate the resolution of difficult karmas and remove obstacles to success in life. They are supportive and life affirming and can lighten the sometimes overwhelming weight of difficult circumstances. Since difficult times develop slowly, it must be expected that they will dissipate gradually. Best results are obtained through repeated participation in this yagya as the movement of the planets is a gradual thing. This yagya covers all nine planets in one five hour day of yagyas. If you would like more focus on a particular planet(s), then we recommend the Personal or Private Yagyas which will provide several hours of focused pujas, mantra japa, and a fire yagya at modest cost. Satyanarayana (Vishnu) and Lakshmi Yagya ($37) for family harmony and material success Monday, November 2nd (Full Moon Day)
The yagya, which is always performed on the Full Moon, develops peace and harmony between husband, wife, children and other family members of all generations. It develops and protects smoothness in our external circumstances and enhances enjoyment and our ability to live in balance and harmony. It is a gentle yagya that combines the protection of Vishnu with the fullness and abundance of Lakshmi. In the long run, as with all Vedic technologies, repetition is key to the development of strength and effectiveness. This yagya when repeated on a monthly basis develops a greater depth of experience resulting in increased individual power and longer lasting results from the yagya.

Private Yagya (5 hours/5 priests) ($300)
A private yagya consists of a full day's dedicated effort on your behalf. Five of our most experienced priests will perform 5 hours of pujas and mantra japa followed by a full 1 to 2 hour fire yagya (homam). The focus of a private yagya can be particularly instrumental in lightening a difficult trend in life, solving a specific problem, removing a troublesome obstacle, or of dramatically deepening one's spiritual practices and experience of divinity. A no-charge jyotish consultation is available to assist you in the selection of the most appropriate and beneficial yagyas. Click here to request. On the day of your yagya, the priests begin by performing a series of pujas followed by 1008 japa repetitions of the mantra most appropriate for providing assistance from a spiritual perspective. This is followed by the the full 1 to 2 hour fire yagya (homam) featuring an additional 1008 mantra repetitions with the traditional offerings of ghee, herbs, special woods, grains, fruits and nuts into the yagya fire. Those who commit to the purchase of a private yagya for at least six months are included in the full yagya schedule during each month. Small Personal Yagya (2-3 hours/2 priest) ($125)
A small personal yagya is similar to a private yagya, the difference being that it is performed by one priest rather than five. This form of yagya is intended to assist individuals who wish to address a specific area of concern either through several consecutive days of yagya or a single day repeated over a number of months. These yagyas can be very powerful because of the focused and dedicated nature of the performance. On your yagya day, your personal priest begins with a series of pujas (Ganesha, Kalasha, and Navagraha) followed by puja and mantra japa for your choice of planet or deity.
